And they’re off! With the first ships of the season leaving Broome Port this week, there is a real buzz around the industry. Mustering has been underway for a few weeks and the prices are holding steady.

In two weeks KPCA is set to host the Kimberley Pilbara Beef Showcase. Combining the Inaugural Kimberley Pilbara Cattlemen’s Association Innovation Forums with MLA’s BeefUp Days, we are pleased to present a range of topics around innovation in the pastoral industry as well as the opportunity to help steer MLA’s R&D program going forward.

Immediately following the KPCA Innovation Forum in Broome on Tuesday 12th April from 2-5pm, we are pleased to advise the Department of Lands are holding a public consultation session to address the draft Land Administration Amendment Bill 2016 including:
– Security for pastoral leases,
– Diversification, and
– Rangelands development.

Please note the dates for the Port Hedland Department of Lands forum has been rescheduled as it is not anticipated the draft Bill will be available until Tuesday 5 April from the Department of Lands website.

KPCA has had a busy month, including an agricultural research trip to Pakistan for Catherine, updating the Northern Beef Futures Forum in Karratha, meeting with the Executive Committee of the Nothern Territory Cattlemen’s Association at their AGM, and providing feedback on how MLA can use stakeholders to engage the public at the MLA Stakeholder Engagement Day in Sydney.
