I’m a second-generation Kimberley pastoralist. My family and I have pioneered the concept of diversification on pastoral leases in Western Australia. I bought my own property 12 years ago after working in the mines to save up for it and have been steadily developing it since then, taking it from an acknowledged non-viable pastoral lease to a property that is constantly improving its carrying capacity. I am very active in developing our property from an economic and environmental standpoint and have done this through hard work, effective lobbying and strategic planning. I’m deeply interested at looking around the globe at climatic zones similar to the Kimberley and the successful farming models that exist in these areas. We have done a lot of work on genetics and the role that they play in working in our climatic conditions. I have been involved in Northern Beef Futures since well before it had a name, I am an Executive Member on the WA Beef Council, Chair of the West Kimberley LCDC and have been an Executive Member of the KPCA since it’s inception.
